For its 80th edition, the Avignon Festival looks to the future and projects itself towards the next eighty years of its history. Artistic director Tiago Rodrigues invites artists to question the future of theatre and performing arts, in connection with the founding utopia carried by Jean Vilar, who created the festival in 1947.
"This edition will be rooted in the future and projected towards the next eighty years of the Festival. The questions carried by the invited artists will be addressed to the future, in connection with Jean Vilar's utopia." — Tiago Rodrigues
