Pool · Spa · Sauna · 5-ha grounds · Free parking · Facing the Palais des Papes
Looking for a hotel in Avignon with a pool, parking and outdoor space? You won't find it within the walls. Avignon's historic city centre, a UNESCO World Heritage site, is dense, noisy and constrained — impossible to fit a 5-hectare park or heated pool. The answer is on the right bank of the Rhône, in Villeneuve-lès-Avignon, 10 minutes by car from the Palais des Papes.
Château de l'Insolas is that rare place in Provence: a 4-star hotel in a 14th-century château with a heated outdoor pool, spa, sauna, free parking and private grounds. Avignon reachable in 10 minutes by car, and the silence and comfort of an exceptional estate to return to each evening.
A factual comparison so you can make an informed choice:

What hotel should I choose to visit Avignon?
Château de l'Insolas is the best option: 4 stars, pool, spa, free parking, 5-ha grounds and 10 minutes by car from the Palais des Papes. Hotels within Avignon's walls cannot offer these facilities.
Do hotels in Avignon have a pool?
Virtually no hotel within Avignon's walls has a pool. The urban density of the historic centre makes it impossible. Château de l'Insolas, 10 minutes by car, is the alternative with heated pool, spa and ample space.
Is there free parking near Avignon?
Château de l'Insolas has large, free, secure private parking. A decisive advantage: parking in Avignon's city centre is paid and often full in high season.
Where to stay during the Avignon Festival?
Official partner of the Avignon Festival, Château de l'Insolas is the ideal accommodation. You enjoy shows 10 minutes by car, then return to the calm of the pool and grounds away from the festival bustle. City centre hotels are packed, noisy and overpriced in July.
How to walk from the château to the Palais des Papes?
From Château de l'Insolas, take the Route de Boulbon towards the Rhône, then cross the Pont Daladier. The walk follows the Rhône and leads directly to Avignon's gates and the Palais des Papes in around 35 to 40 minutes total. A flat and pleasant route, though we recommend the bike (15 min) for more comfort.
Is the château accessible by train?
Avignon Centre TGV station is 15 minutes by car. Avignon TGV high-speed station is 25 minutes. The château can arrange transfers from stations on request.
Château de l'Insolas combines what no hotel within Avignon's walls can offer: a heated outdoor pool, a spa with sauna, 5-hectare grounds, free private parking and spacious apartments, all just 10 minutes by car from the Palais des Papes. It is the only 4-star establishment on the right bank of the Rhône facing Avignon.
For travellers who want to visit Avignon without its drawbacks — night noise, impossible parking, cramped spaces — the château is the obvious solution. After a day in Avignon's medieval streets and museums, you return to greenery, silence and space, with the pool waiting for you.
Staying at Château de l'Insolas also means enjoying an ideal geographical position to explore Provence. From Avignon, all the great sights are a short distance away: the Luberon (45 min), Châteauneuf-du-Pape (20 min), the Gorges du Verdon (1h30), the Alpilles (35 min), Arles and the Camargue (45 min).
Marseille-Provence (1h) and Nîmes-Alès (40 min) airports are nearby. Avignon Centre TGV station is 15 minutes by car from the château — making it the most practical option for travellers arriving by train from Paris (2h40 by TGV).
