Chorégies d'Orange 2026 — A season of transition

France's oldest lyric festival, the Chorégies d'Orange have made music resound since 1869 in the exceptional setting of the Ancient Theatre of Orange, a 2,000-year-old Roman monument listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. For 2026, the festival begins a transition with a tighter programme of 6 evenings, marked by the departure of Jean-Louis Grinda after 9 years of direction and the adoption of a new EPCC status.

Unprecedented 2026 edition: with only 6 evenings (vs. 13 usually), the 2026 season is the shortest in the recent history of the Chorégies. A single opera is on the programme — Verdi's La Traviata — but with a prestigious international cast.
